Lately this iPhone thing from Apple is getting a ton of hype for reasons I don’t quite understand. It’s a phone that plays porn or something like that, which I guess is pretty cool, but hardly justifies having to use AT&T as your wireless provider. As some of you may know, Apple’s stock has skyrocketed of late, and through my myriad sources I learned of a new Fone that’s soon to come to market that will likely send Apple stock down into the toilet. Sell your shares now and behold:
Wow! What’s so cool about this is the element of mystery. Is it black? Blue? Zune brown? Who knows, because the ad is in black & white. If that’s not awesome enough, they also spell Phone with an F (and no h!) which is like totally amazing and innovative. Also, unlike the plethora of headphone-based competition out there, the Bone Fone conducts music through your shoulder blades, leaving you safely immune from all the white earbud iPhone related thievery that’s plaguing America today.
I’m not sure what crafty way of dialing the phone is designed into the product, but I’m sure it’s awesome. Battery life is reputed to be good, as well, allowing for at least 90 minutes of uninterrupted shoulder jamming before the 14 AA batteries need replacement.
It seems that the lone flaw in the product is that it does little to revolutionize the way we listen to mono music, but surely that will be resolved in version 2.0.
Available in October at all local Tech HiFis.
Just got myself one of these
Yeah, finally sprung for a Zune.
It’s been as great as everyone says. I’m using it everywhere, listening to tunes in the car, watching video at the beach, beaming songs to everyone waiting in line for sodgeberry muffins (mmmm!). I’m honestly a little wary about taking it to the gym, only because the color is such a shimmery shade of brown I don’t want to sweat it up.
Mine looks just like this one, except I haven’t had any luck getting Paul Oakenfold to download to it, so that video is not on it.
Highly recommended to Brad or any other big time music fans who are looking to ditch the cassettes and go all out digital two-thousand-and-seven!
This is the greatest thing I have ever seen in the history of ever. What better way to pass the time when you’re an inmate in a prison in the Philippines than… by choreographing your own version of the video for “Thriller?” And then you get hundreds of inmates to agree? And then you get the guards to go along with it and not think it’s a trick? And then you find one of the inmates to play the woman? (OK, maybe that last one wasn’t so hard, but still and all – this remake beats the hell out of the original.)
Then, for an encore, you do Radio Gaga.
Occasionally I think “It looks like people may be tiring of this site. Time to shut it down.” I hate when things drag on past their prime (M*A*S*H, Happy Days, Pirates of the Carribean 3, Gary Gray, etc.) and when it seems like apathy is setting in, I figure it’s time to fold the tent. Then you guys break through a big barrier or get a great discussion going, and I figure this just may be worth the $7.95 a year it costs me. (Finding Mark Porier alone has got to be worth at least $3.13 of that.) So I blog less and see if others will blog more. Sure enough, you do. And you break through another major milestone: WAE has just cracked 40,000 views. The site’s averaging 150-200 views a day, which is just amazing. I hear from some of the more avid posters that there are those of you who read but are afraid to post a comment for fear of looking foolish. All I can say to that is A. This is high school. Of course you’re going to look foolish and B. There’s nobody who’s gonna look like more of a dork than I, so speak up.

The trek continues.
Only thing better would be James Taylor working on the soundtrack.
… to my positively ridiculous plan to walk in the Susan B. Komen 3Day this year! I say ridiculous because I had highly unsatisfactory foot surgery a few months ago that STILL isn’t really healed, and because I have not yet managed to walk more than 8 miles at a time in my intensive training program. No, I didn’t fall down from exhaustion, it’s just almost impossible to find more than two or three free hours at a time.
So, the fact is that I might NOT be able to walk the entire three day, 60 mile trek — but I’m gonna try. Because really, think about it — I could just tell you all that I HAD walked 60 miles even if I stayed at home eating mocha almond ice cream and watching chick flicks, right? But no, I’m actually going out there like a fool, so if you know someone with (or have lost someone to) breast cancer, please please consider donating whatever you can spare through my donation page right here.
I’ll report back after the walk (which starts on August 3.) (Which is frighteningly soon.)

Well, here they are, folks: The Happiest Couple in America. On Saturday, July 21, 2007, 86′ers Lisa St. Martin and Scott Travis tied the knot. Their story of romance is one long in the making, and so as to not step on their privacy I will not recount the whole thing here. Suffice to say that there was a twenty year pause in the process (I’m, a big proponent of the long delayed reconnection myself…) They were, no exceptions, the most joyful couple I’ve ever seen. In a tiny little church in the pastoral Vermont countryside Scott and Lisa took their vows surrounded by family and friends and attended by this motliest of crews:
composed of 86′ers Arthur “Boston Public” Milano, “Duke of Cochituate” Paul Harmon, Phil “The ‘Stache” Bancroft, and Chris “Chris” Marobella. A great time was had by all, and the happy couple will soon be moving from their Virginia digs to a new spread in Florida. In all seriousness, this pair was so happy I thought they were going to ’splode. Congratulations.

State evaluates Wayland High’s condition
Wayland was one of 18 towns selected by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) for on site evaluations, which took place June 20 to 22, according to Lea Anderson, chairwoman of the High School Building Committee.
“Ten people came out over three days to see the condition of the high school,” said Anderson. “That included architects, engineers, and the MSBA’s architect (Joseph) Buckley.”
In the past, Wayland High School has been graded a “3″ on a scale of 1 to 4 from the state, with “4″ as the worst condition for a building, said Anderson.
